The Best Diet For Weight Loss – Eat Less Do More

 Fast food makes you fat!
Fast Food, TV and PC's Make Us FAT!

Diets are a modern scourge brought on by calorie packed food that is cheap and easy to get. They are driven by obesity, celebrity and television. They are the result of sitting more on your behind and eating more!!! Does that sound harsh? Every problem in life has a root cause and the diet culture we have in the western world is indeed driven by the factors listed above and others. A friend of mine called Nic Wheater, who is a Director at a major UK Food Business, once said to me about diet fads; ‘I don’t know what all the fuss is about, it’s all very simple really, eat less, do more exercise’ and he was right on the money.

The fact is that the progress of humans in the past 50 years has been exponential. We live in an information age not an agricultural one or an industrial one where real work and sweat is required. More and more of us do jobs that involve sitting down all day, looking at a computer screen or talking on the phone.

When we are at home we do leisure activities that involve sitting down and watching TV, playing a computer game or chatting on Facebook, Skype or MSN. So, in many cases, to make the point further we are getting fatter because we sit on our fat arses all day and all night and no fad diet is ever going to change that.

Come on, let’s face the truth.
The Size Of The Problem
Let’s break the problem down a bit further, we are consuming more calories than we need during our daily lives so the best way to counteract this is to ‘eat less, do more’. Sound simple enough? OK, let’s say you have a ‘magic switch’ in your head, let’s flick that switch and just do it. If you could have the ideal routine of eating properly and exercising regularly then what will you look like in a year from now? How will you feel? How will others respond to you? Will it have been worth getting off your fat arse and doing something about it? Sorry to keep coming back to the fat arse part but sometimes we need a kick up it to get moving and take action. Let’s take the ‘eat less’ part first. The reason you eat too much is probably because you are eating the wrong kinds of food and in the wrong quantities.

Now, I am no nutritionist but then I don’t need to be. We didn’t have nutritionists 100 years ago when we were healthy, fit and obesity was only for the rich and famous. We will get plenty of nutrition from our food if we simply eat more fresh fruit and vegetables and have a little meat and fish eat week. Just eat 3-4 four times a day and have about half of what you normally do. You will be surprised how your body can cope. Simple. Call it the Jim Flynn Diet if you want.

Make It Your Goal To Develop An Excersize Habit
On the exercise front you need to find what works for you and do it for an hour at least 5 days per week. And don’t tell me you don’t have that amount of time because you do! Spend one hour less watching TV or going online each day and instead, go for a brisk walk for an hour, or a run or a cycle. Climb a local steep hill. You do not need to join a gym or install one in your house or garage. That is only pseudo action, a way to convince yourself that you are getting fit by doing something else, anything else but get off your fat arse! We didn’t have gyms 100 years ago like we do today because we didn’t need them and there was no market for them. Everyone was too busy working hard every day to make a living and in the process staying fit and healthy.

To lose weight, get fit and look great you need to develop two new habits.

  • Habit 1 – eat healthy and well.
  • Habit 2 – Exercise daily for an hour

To develop these habits you need to really try to visualise and feel how you will be transformed in one year from now and understand how this will change your life forever. You need to set a realistic and achievable goal and then, and this is crucial, work out what things (or tasks) you need to do to achieve your goal. Then you need to ACT and make it a new habit!

You need to visit and work on your habit every single day and fall in love with the idea.

Become obsessed with it and do it, repeatedly, repeatedly, again and again until eventually you do it without even having to try. Then it becomes a habit, something you do without trying.

When you are at that stage your goal will be achieved with ease. Go on, say goodbye to that fat arse behind you. Good luck.
